Theatre and stage play forms the core of culture
preservation in every locality. The history of stage play and theatre in Nigeria
may not be complete without making reference to osun state. And in celebratng
the 2017 international theatre day, the Osun state axis of theatre
practitioners and its counterpart from the state government stage a road road
show across Osogbo. The road show had different cultural displays and that of
Yoruba deities and short drama.
The road show used to celebrate international day for
theatre is necessary in order to foster unity though there are concerns that
stage play is fast going into extinction.
To the theatre arts practitioners say there is no two way to
revival of the theatre arts than embracing stage play once again by all and
sundry.
The theme
of this year's celebration is tagged "theatre, a culture of peace".
