Jibrin Lacks Experience To Seek Buhari's Resignation -Lasun Yusuf

The Deputy Speaker of the House of representatives, Hon Lasun Yusuf has described as unnecessary the call by a former chairman House committee on Budget and appropriation, Hon Abdul-Mumin Jibrin On President Muhammadu Buhari to resign on health ground.

Jibrin had over the weekend on his twitter handle said the combination of President Buhari's age and health situation has slowed down the pace of the APC government, hence the need for him to resign.

The lawmaker in a 30 tweet, tagged "Time To Let Go" said the president at this time of his life needs homecare, enough rest, quality time with family and not office work.

But while reacting, Hon.Yusuf said Jibrin lacks political and basic experience of life to seek president's resignation or analyze his cabinet.

The Deputy Speaker was speaking in Osogbo, the Osun state capital on Sunday while giving distributing laptops to one hundred and fifty youths of his constituency trained in ICT.

He maintained that the President health status is not enough to call for his resignation, since according to him, the government is working effectively.

Hon. Yusuf stressed that stimulation of Nigerian economy is a collective effort, which doesn't rest on the shoulder of the president alone.

The Deputy Speaker also denied any friction between the executive and the legislative arms of government. 

He said people need to understand the principle of separation of powers before they can appreciate the working relationship between the two arms of government. 

He observed that democratic governance is all about functions and each arm should be allowed to carry out its functions without any undue interference. 

Apparently referring to the empasse generated by the non-confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the deputy speaker said it is a constitutional requirement that the president should present those he wants to appoint to positions of authority to the Senate for thorough screening asking Nigerians not to see it as a friction between the two arms of government.
