Sequel to the extraordinary general meeting of the South West Caucus of The Nigerian Youth Parliament, held on 20th April, 2017 in the Capital City of Oyo State, Ibadan led by the Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Ayodele John Obe, the election of the South West caucus was held putting into the wheels Hon. Owolabi Babatunde as Chairman, Adewumi Tomilola Wole as deputy, Adesanya John Julius and Aminu Lookman Enitan as the Secretary and Director of Publicity respectively. The South West representatives acknowledged the service of Hon. Famuyibo Oluwasegun who served the Region in acting capacity since inception of this 3rd session of the Parliament.

The Caucus while addressing the pressmen through the Chairman; appreciate the Speaker of the Parliament for his uncommon achievements and commitment towards youth development in the country.
"Mr Speaker, we are grateful for making Yoruba race proud, you have set a record with your immesurable achievements despite all the odds.
"We use this medium to congratulate the Erudite Son of Yoruba Race, Giant of Nigeria Democracy, a father, leader of the progressive, architect of change, a mentor and the National Leader of APC, on his glorious 65 years of existence. "Sir, you are an instrument sent by GOD, we acknowledge your dedication towards the growth of Africa, especially Nigerian youths . May GOD continue to strengthen you and give us the opportunity to keep learning from you. Happy birthday Asiwaju Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu" Owolabi said.

The caucus also congratulate Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state, charging him that "he engages the people and empowers the Small and Medium Scale Industries in the development of the State, agricultural development especially as the land is rich for the purpose, we will not forget to advocate that he engage more Youths in his appointments as a key to engender Youth Inclusion in Governance."
On the state of Peace and Security in the South West, the youth caucus expressed strong displeasure at every form of violence unleashed by anyone or group on another in the nation or anywhere within the South West. We all have to know that the progress and development we are craving for cannot be achieved in an atmosphere of disarray. "Every man is born with honour. We hereby urge all ethnicities and tribes to live together in peace and be respectful of every cultural traditions of their hosting communities, may the soul of those who lost their lives in all the crisis rest in peace." the caucus opined.
The Southwest caucus also advocate for support of the #NotTooYoungToRun and #YesWeCan bills and urge all the legislative assemblies both at the States and National Level to consider and pass the bill into law.
The S/west Caucus of NYP join in the celebration of 50th anniversary of the commercial nerve of west Africa, land of aquatic splendour, economic hub of the nation, and the life wire of the people, the great city of Lagos. The drive to upgrade from a mega to a smart city remains a source of learning for all states in the Federation, we are proud host of Nigeria's first Mega Smart City.
