National Industrial Court Launches Official Mobile App

 One of the nightmares of the judicial system in Nigeria is the slow pace in the dispensation of justice. As the saying goes that justice delayed is justice denied, The national Industrial Court of Nigeria is not only bringing revolution into this cumbersome system but also bringing court processes and adminitration to the door step of all Nigerians.

The National Industrial Court has recently introduced an application which serves as “A Guide to the operations of the National Industrial Court”.

The app is a One-stop interface to the entire operations of the administrative and judicial operations of the National Industrial Court.

At the moment, the app operates only on an android operating system (Android Phone) and can be downloaded at the google play store.

With the application, a user is introduced to the constitutional powers of the NIC. The application also has a list of all the judges of the court with their profile.

Other features of the application are guides to initiation of cases, commencement of cases, hearing of application, public and chamber hearing.

The app provides easy access to the date and time a matter is coming up without going to court from anywhere in the world. Daily and future case lists of all divisions are also available for timely and effective court information dissemination.

The application also have effective case management tools that assist users with the Rules of court, up to date cause list, status of matters before the courts, judgment of the court among others.

Launching of an app which is unarguably the first of its kind in sub-Sahara Africa ranks as one ofnthe numerous innovations brought to NIC by the leadership Hon. Justice Babatunde Adejumo  the president of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria.

Since the launch of the App, several changes and updates have been made in order to sooth the yearnings of users. This is made possible as the feedback interface of the app is engaged by users who pass their comments on the app. This has led to rising endorsement from Nigerians in and outside the country as a watershed in the history of justice administration and dispensation in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the National Industrial Court in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators says alternative dispute resolution is the next phase for the judicial system in the country.

This is being highlighted at an ongoing Special Mediation and Conciliation Certification Course in Abuja. The workshop for NICN staff is being handled through the office of the Director, NICN-Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre.

Major focus of the certification course are "Capacity building for efficient and affable performance" and "Taking the Concept of Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre to the next level".
