Police Arrest Father For 'Child Abuse'
A 42 year old man simply identified as Obi has been arrested by the police in Osun state for violence against his son.
Obi was said to have beaten up his eleven year old son, for stealing, by tying the boy overnight, which left scars on the hands of the boy.
The scars inflicted on the boy called Prosper Obi was noticed by a good Samaritan who then notified the welfare department in the state.
The zonal officer and press officer of the welfare unit later took the issue up, for necessary steps and treatment of the boy.
Prosper was taken to the state hospital for treatment, and undergone series of tests to ascertain clean health bill.
Doctor Agnes Eboo of the state specialist hospital, Asubiaro who treated the boy confirmed that his chest was strained in the course of punishment by the father and he waa being treated and observed for further diagnosis.
She condemned the action of Prospers' father by describing it as barbaric.
The Police Officer in Charge of the case, S.A Adejoyin stated that the man has been arrested and investigation is still ongoing, and due process will be concluded at the completion of the investigation.
