Christians Should Participate More In Politics - Archbishop Ogunleye
As the local government election in Lagos State approaches, all Christians who are of age have been urged to participate actively in a bid to have a voice in the running of the affairs of the state.
Making this charge was Archbishop Julius Ogunseye, the Archbishop of the Lagos province of The African Church at the first congress of Lagos Province of The African Church held at The African Church Salem Cathedral, Ebutte Meta.
While praising the leadership of the independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for releasing the time table for the nation’s general elections, Ogunseye, the chairman, Ogun State Christians Pilgrims welfare Board said “with the release of the general election time table, INEC has shown its total readiness for the arduous task ahead”.
He however charged all Nigerians to shun all acts that would make them sell their conscience by selling their voter cards.
On the fight against corruption led by President Mohammadu Buhari, Ogunseye admonished the President to tackle the scorge headlong as it has eaten deep into the very fabric of the society, saying, “Nigeria will soon get better in Jesus Name”
Some other Bishops and clergy men at the event include, the Lord Bishop, Lagos Central Diocese of The African Church, Bishop Gabriel Adebanjo; Lord Bishop, Ifako Diocese, Bishop Michael Adeyemi; Lord Bishop of Lagos West Missionary Diocese, Bishop Akin Ajayi;Provincial Vice Lay President, Engr. Babatunde Odufuwa and Elder Muyiwa Adebajo among others.
