Ekiti Assembly Crisis: Suspended Lawmaker Seeks Police Protection Amid Alledged Assassination Threat

The Inspector General of police Mr Ibrahim Idris has ordered the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police Mr Abdulahi Chafe to provide maximum and adequate protection for The suspended house of assembly member representing Ikole constituency 1,Hon.Gboyega Aribisogan following reported allegation of threats, intimidation, harassment and possible attack on him and his family.
Sources at the police headquarters in Abuja disclosed that a letter dated June 15, 2017, has been despatched to the Commissioner of Police in Ado Ekiti to effect the protection order.
The IGP also directs an Assistant Commissioner of police in charge of Special Investigative Panel, ACP Williams to investigate the alleged threat and other allegations as contained in a petition earlier submitted to the IGP by the suspended lawmaker.
Aribisogan had in a petition to the Inspector General of Police accused the state House of Assembly leadership and the state governor Ayodele Fayose of plotting heinous attack against him and his family.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the House of Assembly says it may extend the suspension of Aribisogan if "he fails to show remorse".
But Aribisogan in the past week has been challenging his suspension describing it as illegal as it is not contained in the house rules of order. Aribisoagan was suspended in the 6th of October for 180 legislative days after being found guilty by an ad-hoc panel for anti-party activities.
Trouble however started as Gboyega Aribisogan strolled in to the assembly complex last week with a letter intimating the house of his resumption but the chairman house committee on information Samuel Omotosho says the suspended lawmaker still have 38 more legislative days to go before he can resume his duty just as Aribisogan was of the opinion that the house can only suspend it's member for just 14 legislative days ascribing the 180 legislative day suspension and it's possible extension to grand illegality.
