Osun West Bye-Election: PDP Warring Factions Bury Hatchet, Vow To Defeat Aregbesola's Candidate
As activities for the July 8 by-election in the Osun west senatorial election gathers momentum, the two warring factions of the peoples Democratic Party in the state have ended their political crisis, which has been on for more than 15 months.
The differences were brought to a halt to ensure that the candidate of the PDP in the By-Election Otunba Ademola Adeleke beats his APC opponent and Aregbesola's anointed candidate Senator Mudashiru Hussein.
At the party's programme to publicly bring the two groups together held in Iwo, the senatorial district headquarters, elders and leaders of the party in the state took turn to speak on the rational behind the re-union.
A member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun lauded the process which brought about the accord in the party and enjoined every member to go out and canvass for the party's candidate.
While speaking Senator Iyiola Omisore said "Osun west is very important to everyone of us, that's why We decided to come together and honour the memory of our late senator"
Recalled that the late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke defected to the APC from the PDP in 2014 following a crisis which ensued during the build up to the party's governorship primary election, where he (late Adeleke) was reported to have been manhandled by the then police affairs minister, Jelili Adesiyan on the order of Senator Iyiola Omisore who was also an aspirant at the time.
In his remarks, Otunba Ademola Adeleke appreciated the party leadership for accepting him with open minds, saying he's overwhelmed by their show of support towards him.
He said "I promise not to disappoint you. I'll continue the philanthropic legacy of my late elder brother, whose main worry was how to better the lives of the masses".
