Fmr. Vice Principal Bags Life Jail Term For Raping 12 year-old student In Ekiti

An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced a former Vice Principal,  Taiwo Ajayi, to life
imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old student .

Ajayi was accused of raping a  minor, offence  contrary to Section 31(2) of the Child Rights Law of
Ekiti State 2012.

The defence counsel, Sule Longe pleaded for leniency and prayed for fine option
instead of the due punishment.

But the Prosecution Counsel, Emmanuel Arogundade told the court to disregard the plea adding that the victim has suffered a lifetime trauma of torture and rape .

The trial Judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Abodunde therefore rejected the plea for leniency on the ground that the accused person was found guilty as charged.

Exhibits tendered include a medical report, statement of the accused,
report of the panels set up by the school authorities and Teaching
Service Commission to investigate the matter which indicted the accused person, among others.
