• The UFC icon, Conor McGregor, will be making his first foray into professional boxing following a nine-year career in mixed martial arts.
• He is 28 years old, and his nickname is ‘The Notorious.’
• He was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland.
• He has fast become UFC’s most recognisable athlete since making his debut in the octagon in 2013.
• After two years of fighting across Ireland, UFC president Dana White travelled to the country and signed McGregor for his first match against Marcus Brimage in April 2013.
• Forbes magazine named McGregor as the 24th highest-paid athlete in the world in its highest-paid athletes list from 2017.
• He earned £27m in 2016 from fight deals, endorsements and sponsorship agreements.
• He fought twice over the past 12 months, including headlining two of the three best-selling UFC fights ever on pay-per-view.
• He is the reigning UFC lightweight champion and remains the only fighter in the competition’s history to hold two belts at two different weight divisions at one time.
