Parents Charged Not To Neglect Islamic Growth of Children As Al-Qalam Academy Holds 1st Qur'anic Graduation
Parents and guardians have been charged not to neglect the religious and spiritual growth of their wards and children even as they take care of their educational development.
This admonition was made at the first Aflah (Quranic graduation) ceremony for the students of Al-Qalam Academy, a western and Islamic curricula school in Ogijo, Ogun state.
Delivering his lecture, the guest lecturer Dr Sulayman Giwa said the best upbringing parents can give their wards is a balanced education both in western and Islamic curricula.
"Gone are those days when a Muslim child will have to change his name before he could have access to western education. Gone are those days when you will have to run from pillar to post before you can combine western education with Islamic education. Schools like Al-Qalam Academy are here to make it all easy,so do not neglect your children's spiritual upbringing all in the name of western education because on the day of judgement, lack of Islamic knowledge will cause some children to ask for severe punishment for their parents in manifold because they will say their parents never gave them Islamic knowledge to know Allah." Dr Giwa submitted.
The Quranic graduation according to the Chairman, Board of Directors of Al-Qalam Academy Alhaji Qasim Seriki is to encourage both parents and students to embrace acquisition of Quranic knowledge.
The graduands cut across the primary and secondary section of the school with students graduating from different level of memorisation ranging from the whole Quranic to sections.
The ten graduands were accompanied to the venue with their parents and other well wishers. The motive of celebrating the students according to the school management is to showcase the feat achieved in the very short time of the school's existence. The school Director, Lateefah Seriki says the school have all it takes to bring the best out of the children in western education and also make the children prepared for the challenges of life by giving them sound Islamic knowledge to be able to navigate the society as it is now.
