Nigeria Withdraws From 90 Int'l Organizations



The Nigerian government has resolved to withdraw its memembership from ninety international organizations.

This is the recommendation of an inter-ministerial committee set up to review the country's membership of certain global bodies.

Minister of finance Kemi Adeosun told Journalists after the weekly Federal Executive council meeting that the decision of the country to disengage from some of the organisations is due the embarrassment caused by the nation's inability to meet its financial obligations to the over three hundred international organizations it is involved with

According to the finance minister, Nigeria spends over seventy million US dollars annually to fulfil its commitment to the organisations.

Also arising from Wednesday's Federal Executive council meeting, Minister of Foreign affairs Geoffrey Onyeama said he bbriefed council on President Buhari's outing at the Just concluded seventy second session of the United Nations General Assembly that held in New York,  United States of America.

The foreign affairs minister dismissed insinuations that the President did not address much of domestic issues at the International gathering, saying that President Buhari spoke extensively on the issues of terrorism, repatriation of stolen funds and human trafficking as they affect Nigeria.
