"We Only Fired Warning Shots"- Army Denies Killing IPOB Members,

The Nigerian Army has denied the attack and killings of anybody in Afaraukwu the home town of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), Nnamdi Kanu.

IPoB Sunday night said that five people were feared dead and about 30 others injured when gunmen suspected to be soldiers allegedly attacked Kanu’s country home.
The Army in a statement signed by Oyegoke Gbadamosi, the Assistant Director Army Public Relations 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, said that the report was far from truth.

“It was a group of suspected IPoB militants that blocked the road against troops of 145 Battalion while on show of force along FMC-Word Bank Road in Umuahia town, Abia state at about 6.00-6.30pm, Sunday.

The army said the IPoB militants insisted that the Military vehicles would not pass and started pelting the soldiers with stones and broken bottles to the point of injuring an innocent female passerby and a soldier, Kolawole Mathew.

The troops fired warning shots in the air and the hoodlooms dispersed. No life was lost.
