NANTAP Holds National Convention In March

The National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) will on March 1st through 3rd have its 2018 National Delegates Convention.
The convention, according to a statement signed by the NANTAP National President, Israel EBOH, will take place in Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom state capital.
NANTAP, An affiliate of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) and the International Federation of Actors (FIA), is the umbrella body of all theatre and allied art practitioners in Nigeria.
The statement added that the Minister of information and Culture Lai Mohammed would be among the special guests expected at the event.
The convention which is expected to bring together the likes Ali Baba, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Moses Armstrong, Liz Benson-Amaya, Hafiz Oyetoro (Saka), Sam Uche Anyamele, Tina Mba and Chief Chika Okpala (Zebrudaya) among others, would also feature award presentation to some people who distinguished themselves in the promotion in the country.
One of the people to be awarded is the wife of the Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Martha Udom Emmanuel.
Election of new executive of the association would also be conducted during the convention.
The statement reads:
"Come 1st – 3rd March, 2018, all roads will lead to Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom State capital as Nigerian thespian family, playwrights, stage managers, sceneographers, dancers and technicians among others under the auspices of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) gather for the 2018 National Delegates Convention of the Association.
NANTAP, An affiliate of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) and the International Federation of Actors (FIA), is the umbrella body of all theatre and allied art practitioners in Nigeria with branches spread across the country, namely: Abuja, Lagos, Delta, Edo, Akwa - Ibom, Ogun, Ekiti, Abia, Oyo, Imo, Rivers, Kaduna, Abia, and Plateau among others.
Tagged: THE GATHERING OF STARS, the Uyo Convention, would bring together the who-is-who in the theatre subsector of the Nigerian entertainment/creative industry, with the likes Ali Baba, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Moses Armstrong, Liz Benson-Amaya, Hafiz Oyetoro (Saka), Sam Uche Anyamele, Tina Mba and Chief Chika Okpala (Zebrudaya) among others.
The national delegates’ convention is a flagship event of the NANTAP where issues critical to the industry and relevant national issues are discussed and workable solutions proffered.
With the theme: Reproductive Health, Family Planning and National Development: The Nigerian Artiste in Promoting a Worthy Cause, the convention, through its workshops, seminars, roundtable discussions and performances among others highlight the role of the artiste in promoting family planning for national development, issues of artiste’s health in reproductive health and the role of artiste as catalyst for social change among others.
Some partners, speakers and special guests expected at the convention include the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Portfolio Director of the Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI), Dr. Mojisola Odeku, Country Director of Ipas Nigeria, Barrister Hauwa Shekarau and Mrs. Mary Akpobome, Executive Director of the Heritage Bank among others.
The convention would be rounded off with an Award dinner on the evening of Saturday March 3, 2018 where Her Excellency, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel, the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State would be decorated as NANTAP Cultural Ambassador for the year 2018. There shall also be presentation of awards to prominent corporate institutions and individuals who have contributed to the development and growth of the Creative Sector in Nigeria.
Being an elective congress, the 2018 Delegate Convention is expected to give birth to a new set of officials to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years".
