Change of Baton at Idiroko Command of customs as Magudu Bows Out



"..Someone would leave. Then we would have to say good-bye. I hate good-byes. I know what I need. I need more hellos.”

These are the parting words Comptroller Sanni Madugu in his farewell message on the as he handed over to the newly acting area comptroller as he expressed his hearty but compulsory goodbye.

Comptroller Sanni Madugu who has served the district since 25th of April, 2017 relieved his duties to acting Comptroller, DC Agbara Ojobo Michael, at the Idiroko command of the service in Ogun state,


Magudu at the farewell ceremony organised for him, which also served as the handing over ceremony expressed his appreciation to his colleagues, media,  traditional institutes, security agencies and Idiroko  host communities for their loyalty and support.

He however gave a briefing on the achievements in his tenure bordering on  revenues, seizures and Duty paid values.

"from January to 18th April, 2018, revenue made was a total of about 413million naira, 110 seizures with Duty Paid Value of 731million naira was made in the area of anti-smuggling"

He also added that 118 vehicles, 16 motorcycles, 5, 512 bags of foreign rice, 78 bales/sacks of secondhand clothing/shoes/bags, 907 kegs of vegetable oil, 9 drums and 32 kegs of diesel, 5 drums of kerosene, 406 kegs of PMS (petrol) and 63 compressed book packs, 93 compressed coconut packs and quarter sack of Cannabis sativa (popularly known as Indian Hemp)  among other items were seized.

As an improvement to the account given for the December 2017, 810 seizures with DPV of about 1.6billiom naira,and total revenue of about 6.2billion naira. Madugu credited the achievements to the improvement in their strategies which yielded.


Meanwhile, the comptroller made a reference to the last press briefing on 23rd of March, 2018 where he assured a new era of anti-smuggling.

According to him, 6 suspects with unauthorized materials have been arrested and their prosecution are ongoing in the court of law

The new comptroller DC, Agbara Ojobo Michael also received the accolades of his predecessor by affirming his trust in him and requests continual support by stakeholders for more accomplishments.
