Osun 2018: "Endorse a candidate and see the biggest dumping of APC ever"-Group tells Aregbesola

Rising from its emergency on Tuesday, a group, Osun West-Senatorial Peoples Assembly (OWEPA), has handed down warning to both Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the leadership of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, against moves to endorse a governorship aspirant for the party.

The group declared once any of the present crop of governorship aspirants, especially those vying for APC ticket from Osun Central and East is endorsed by the governor, it would move enmasse out of APC.

The social-political group, comprising mainly indigenes of Osun West Senatorial District, in a statement signed by its convener, Alhaji Saka Ibrahim, noted that it has been informed of plans to endorse an aspirant from Osun Central.

The statement reads in parts: "We have it on good authority that both Governor Aregbesola and APC leadership within and outside Osun state are planning to endorse the ambition of Mr. Gboyega Oyetola. This may cause chaos in APC. We love this party and toiled to build it.

"Sadly, the foundation of APC is being threatened with the insinuations flying around. Association cannot be forced. We may not have other alternative than to leave APC in mass for another political group that has its candidate from our zone.

"We consider it unjust and undemocratic the idea of an umpire, openly declaring support for a party in contest. At this time, we hope the information remains a rumour.

"We insist APC governorship ticket must be zoned to the West Senatorial District. East and Central have had their time in the governance of Osun. Let us not only preach justice, we must be seen doing justice to all manners of people regardless what our interest is.

"We are closely monitoring developments in the ongoing visit of Mr. governor to the 9 Senatorial District in the state. In the interest of peace, during the visits, nothing must suggest endorsement for any candidate", the statement concluded.
