NASS Invasion: CUPP Condemns DSS Act, Tags Move As Rape On Democracy
The Coalition of United Political Parties CUPP, has described as a rude shock, "the flagrant violation of the hallowed chambers of Nigeria's National Assembly by gun-toting officers of the Directorate of State Services, DSS."
CUPP says it is aware that no act of impunity and lawlessness is beyond the current APC government, but that what happened tuesday was a total affront on all indices of civilised conduct by any government.
In a statement signed by the coalition spokesperson Mark Adebayo, the statement states in oart that "It would be recalled that it was this same Presidency that begged the Senate which is currently on recess to reconvene in order to consider approving the supplementary budget submitted to the Senate only to lay ambush for the Senators in a desperate evil maneuvering to abduct the Senate president and some other senators that the Buhari government has chosen to be enemy of with a view to executing the government's plans to illegally effect a change of leadership in the Senate.
This is a flagrant rape of democracy and direct attacks on the Nigerian people."
The statement reads further that "CUPP condemns, unequivocally, this act of presidential terrorism and reckless impunity of the security agencies involved in this reprehensible action by the Executive Arm of government. We hold President Muhammadu Buhari responsible for any breakdown of law and order in the country including if any arm befalls any of the Senators. We call on all Nigerians to rise up in defence of democracy, freedom, and justice currently being threatened by the Gestapo-style misrule of the APC under General Muhammadu Buhari who has failed woefully in all areas governance performance indices."
