2019 General Elections: PDP APC Trade Words On Political Attacks
People's Democratic party in osun state has condemned series attack on its members in the last two weeks.
Addressing journalists in osogbo,The zonal secretary of PDP, Bunmi Jenyo said on the night of the election eve, some armed thugs loyal to APC have unleashed terror on the ancient town of Ila Orangun, in Central Senatorial District of Osun State.
He noted that the hoodlums in their numbers, who shot sporadically in the middle of the night, have attacked the houses of leaders and members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, in Ila community.
The zonal secretary hinted that some houses belonging to PDP leaders and members are vandalised with bullets of the assailants who invaded the community,
He called on the law enforcement agencies to come to the rescue of the masses, so that the forthcoming electoral processes would not be truncated by hired thugs in the area.
While calling on the entire Nigerian populace, local and international observers and monitors to keep a close tab on Ila Orangun and its environs,He urged all lovers of democracy not to rest on their oars until the majority will of the people prevail in Ila, Osun and Nigeria.
Mr jenyo charged Inspector General of police (IGP) and other stakeholders to ensure the sanctity of the process through adequate security of lives and property.
He encouraged not to despair and must not be intimidated as the Election Day was around the corner and charged electorate to come out with Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and must be protected to freely cast their vote for the candidates of their choice.
In a reactions, The chairman of all progressive congress in osun state,Mr Gbenga Famodun described the allegation as false saying PDP thugs have been descending on its members in the last two weeks.
Mr Famodun noted that eighteen members of the party in ila oragun were attached by PDP and houses belongs to his members were set ablaze in igangan in Atakumosa east local government area of the state.
He hinted that a young lady Rukayat Balogun was also shot by the PDP thugs in Iwara and called on police to investigate the matter.
Mr Famodun emphasized the need for police to beef up security in some volatile areas to guarantee safety lives and property.
