Election Postponement: Do not Be Discouraged, Disappointed - Reps Member Urges Constituents
A lawmaker representing Lagos Mainland federal constituency in the House of representatives, Hon Olajide Jimoh has urged Nigerians, his constituents not to be discouraged, disappointed of the postponement of the presidential and National assembly election which would have commenced based on INEC logistics challenges but determined to vote credible leaders.
He disclosed this in a statement released by his media office in Lagos saying people should defend their votes and make it count.
The lawmaker who is seeking re-election said the postponement is for the benefit of Nigerians.
"Dear good people of Nigeria, Lagos state, Lagos mainland federal constituency, as we woke up to the shocking news of the postponement of todays Presidential and National Assembly elections by a week based on logistics challenges.
I beseech you not to be discouraged nor disappointed in exercising your civic right despite the postponement rather be resolute, determined to vote for progressives.
"This is the reason we need Nigeria to move to the Next Level for better dividends of democracy.
Next Saturday, I urge you not to only come out enmass to vote our party All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates but also defend your votes and make it count, he said
He further said there were several attempts by forces to thwart the success of this election and to reduce the number of votes for the All Progressives Congress.
"The burning of INEC offices and the smart card readers in some states are the strong opposition against the success of the commission and credible, peaceful exercise.
He tasked Nigerians to take a bold steps by making sure they attained the next level through fight to return the president Buhari and the All Progressives Candidates in the new election dates February 23rd and March 09th respectively.
" This is the time we should take bold steps by making sure we attained the next level. God will keep everyone alive, both the candidates and the electorate, also we shall by the mercy of God enjoy the dividends of this government.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Commission (INEC) announced postponement the general elections in the early morning of Saturday.
