APC, PDP Trade Words Over Osun Senatorial Poll


Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democrat Party PDP, in Ijesaland have called on the police to investigate and bring to justice the perpetrators of political attacks in Ijesa south federal constituency of Osun state.

The two political parties which pointed accusing fingers to each other told journalists in separate briefings in Osogbo and ilesa.


Ijesa south federal constituency has been identified as one of the flashpoints since the commencement of the 2019 electioneering.

This is not unconnected with a number of alleged political attacks that have plagued the people of the area.

Some villagers in the area were said to have fled their homes while some were injured in the recent attacks carried out by hoodlums suspected to be politically motivated.

Gathered here in Osogbo are chieftains of the APC who are alleging members of the PDP for the attacks.

According to Apc Senatorial candidate Ajibola Famurewa said , a team of thugs led by Sanya Omirin and Folorunsho Aderibigbe popularly known as "Serere" searched, ransacked every household and started unleashing terror on houses accommodating APC supporters.

"The thugs were said to have armed with dangerous weapons like guns, axes and charms were moving around freely for four hours which the operation lasted.

The mother of the eleven years old girl who is currently receiving treatment in the Wesley Guild hospital Ilesa also confirmed that Serere led the gangsters to her house when the honourable minister of health, Prof. Isaac Adewole paid an unscheduled visit on the recuperating girl whose leg was strayed with bullets

While calling on the Police to swing into action and ensure the perpetrators are arrested, investigated and brought into book to face the full wrath of justice, Famurewa accused the DPO in charge of Iperindo division, saying he is conniving with PDP thugs to unleash terror on his supporters.

 Other leaders on his entourage, which included Chief Adebiyi Adelowo, Hon. Lawrence Ayeni, Hon. Wale Adedoyin also advised the Commissioner of police to transfer all the DPOs in Ijesaland to forestall total breakdown of law and order.

Elsewhere in Ilesa, some chieftains of the PDP also alleged members the APC in the area of supervising thugs to carry out the attacks.

People Democratic party senatorial candidate,Francis Fadahunsi Adenigba said,he did not import any ammunition and that Famurewa should explain where he saw that.   He denied and said the security agencies should look into this development as soon as possible. 

He hinted that if famurewa failed to prove his claims within two weeks he would be left with no option other to challenge him in competent court of law.

The two worrying political parties claimed to be peace loving and advised their members to remain calm and not to be intimidated


In the face of the allegations and counter allegations, it is hope that the police will be alive to their responsibility by investigating and bring to book, the perpetrators of the attacks.
