Political Activist Identifies Functional Education As Panacea To Poverty

Political activist, senator Sheu Sanni has described adequate provision for education in the nation's budget as a substantial measure to address the mirage of poverty that is breeding insecurity in the country.

Senator Sheu Sanni stated this in osogbo at a Press Week lecture organised by Nigerian union of journalists Osun state council.

It was an avenue to champion a new course for the nation and discuss new ideal to accelerate its development.

Speaking on the theme "bridging the gap between the rich and the poor"  A guest speaker at the event, senator shue Sanni stated that bad leadership is the major hinderance militating against the nation's God given natural and economic endowments.

Senator  Sanni described the level of insecurity and deplorable situation of roads in the nation as factors enabling kidnappings and other forms of insecurity to flourish across the nation.

He charged concerned Nigerians to contribute their quotas to the sustainability of Nigeria as a nation.

On his part, A chieftain of peoples democratic party in osun state,Mr Akin Ogunbiyi maintained that good governance that promotes transparency and accountability was  the panacea to reducing poverty and underdevelopment bedeviling the nation.


Mr Ogunbiyi noted that government must look inward and design programmes and policies that would reduce poverty in the country


Also speaking the former general of Gold Fm,Ilesa ,Mr Kayode Akinsola urged politicians to show more political will and determination in resolving the challenges bedeviling the nation.


Mr Akinsola implored media practitioners in the state to continue to maintain ethical standards and desist from any act that could tarnish


In his welcome address, Chairman of Nigeria Union of journalists osun state council, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji charged government to prioritize provision of quality health and education and other infrastructure that could guarantee better future for the citizens.

Mr Ayantunji promised that journalists in the state would continue to maintain professionalism.
