S. A. Works & transport To Oyetola Advocates Positive Maintenance Culture By Road Users

The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Works and Transport Honourable Engr.  Olaniyan Hussein Olatoke, has appealed to road users in the state to cultivate the habit of road maintenance.

Honourable Olaniyan Hussein said this during the weekly television program sponsored by Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS) on OSBC/TV,  "Alaye Lori Owo Ori" appealed for the support of Osun citizens in the maintenance of various  roads in the state. 

"Road maintenance is the responsibility of all citizens of Osun State, and the Governor has promised to keep up the maintenance of the roads that were constructed by the past adminstration". 

"It's now left to the good people of our dear state to ensure that every thing that might damage the roads should be avoided". 

The Special Adviser also urged road users, car wash operators and those that erected their stalls on or close to the roadways to desist from such acts and stop discharging water and other debris onto the road. Drainages as channels meant for the discharge of water should not be blocked by debris or other objects. 

"The erection of speed breakers and cutting of roadways for crossing of service pipes and cables are illegal. Blocking of roads for hosting of social events, use or roads for unauthorized parking of vehicles or as repair garages, and overloading of vehicles are all unlawful activities which attract various penalties". 

"There are appropriate laws for these various offences and penalties attached to each offence. But the State Governor as the No1 Omoluabi has asked us to appeal to our people not to flout these laws as he considers all the  inhabitants of  this Land of Virtue as virtuous people, hence would not want to employ the use the stick approach in enforcing the law". 

However, recalcitrant members of the public will draw the use of the stick.

Speaking further on the anniversary of 356 days in office of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, he said that this current administration means well for the good people of Osun State and implored everyone to keep supporting his government.
