Maintain Speed Limits On The Road, Osun Govt Appeals To Motorists
Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Works and Transportation, Engr Olatoke Hussein Olaniyan has appealed to citizens of the state to maintain speed limits on the road during the festive season.
Engr Olaniyan made this appeal on OSBC radio program "Morning Tray". While urging motorists to ensure they maintain maximum speed limit of 100km/hr on the highway during and after the period of the celebrations.
'The Yuletide period is usually associated with harmattan dust haze hence the sighting distance is greatly reduced. It is therefore necessary for motorists to be more careful and cautious and reduce speed while driving and also ensure that they give enough space between their vehicle and the one in front of them.
The special Adviser stressed the need for every motorist to do a thorough check on their vehicle and put every aspect in order before hitting the road. It is also important to have fire functional extinguisher kept in the vehicle to combat the incidence of fire outbreak if it ever occurs to the vehicle while on or off the road.
Engr Olaniyan said the Office of Transportation in the Ministry of Works and Transport is working hand in hand with the other law enforcement agencies to ensure that motorists comply with the rules and regulations guiding road users to forestall untoward occurrences.
The Special adviser said that "the government of the State of Osun is the government of people. His Excellency, Governor Gboyega Oyetola's adminstration wants the virtuous people of this State to always comply with the rules and regulations guiding the use of the roads at all times".
