The effect of occupational stress coupled with on going
effect of recession has been identified as one major challenge facing
working families in Nigeria.
Nigeria's first occupational psychopathologist, professor
Ebenezer Okunnawo made this known while delivering an inaugural lecture
at the redeemer university, ede Osun state.
Daily, Nigerians like their counterparts all over the world strive to make a living.
Men, women even children now engage in one job or another to eke out means of livelihood.
This, experts say have had considerable effects on family structures and societal Fault lines.
For Ebenezer Okunnawo, Nigeria's first expert in
occupational psychopathology says work stress is having telling effects
on development of families of an average worker, hence calling for a new
work policy in Nigeria that will create the needed rest and family time
for the workers.

He also called for a reappraisal of the Nigeria curriculum
to accommodate indigenous knowledge and studies which will help the
country to embrace its comparative advantages in the global scheme of
things.
He advised employers to improve on work-life-balance as it
relates to the health of their employees, stating that job conditions
and condition of service are germane to level of productivity and health
status of workers.
