41 Year Old Bags Jail Term For Hard Drug

An Osun state Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo,has convicted a 41-years-old Man, Waidi Adelabu for displaying of cannabis publicly.

The accused person was charged for possession and displaying of cannabis popularly known as "Weed" publicly on two count charge.

The Prosecutor, Mr Elisha Olusegun said the accused committed the offence on 9th of January, 2017 at about 2pm at Oke-Baale area, Osogbo.

He said " Without lawful authority he  had in his possession two wraps of weed suspected to be Indian Hemp otherwise known as cannabis sativa"

"Did conduct himself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by publicly displaying weeds suspected to be Indian hemp".

The Prosecutor said the offence contravene Section 430(1) and 249(D) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. II laws of Osun-State of Nigeria 2002.

The accused person pleaded guilty to the charges brought  against him and appealed for mercy.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Olushola Aluko in his ruling Sentenced Waidi Adelabu to six month imprisonment with an option of fine of N10,000.
