Convicted Ex-Governor, Ngilari Granted Bail


A high court sitting in Yola as presided by Justice Nathan Musa has granted a bail application to former Governor Bala Ngilari to the tune of One hundred Million Naira. (N100,000,000M).

Justice Nathan Musa said it constitutional to grant the bail application to the former governor as filed by his counsel Obed Waziri based on deteriorating health condition.

The bail application was supported with an affidavit of medical report that was made available by the wife of the former Governor Mrs Hanatu Ngilari and admitted by the Court.

Other bail conditions set for Ngilari were the provision of two sureties resident in Yola who are to deposit Certificates of Occupancy of two landed properties worth fifty Million Naira each.

Bala Ngilari was instructed to communicate approximately to the court before travelling outside  the country whether on personal or medical check up.

Reacting to the judgement, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Barr Bala Sanga described the ruling as a BLACK MARKET judgement vowing to appeal against it.

Counsel to Bala Ngilari Obed Wazani said the state attorney General was only speaking his personal opinion . He said it was the discretion of the Court to either grant bail application or not. He described the ruling as a land Mark judgement.

Bala Ngilari was convicted on the 6th March 2017 for breach of procurement process in a contract for the purchase of vehicles for Adamawa State commissioners when he was governor.
