Fell A Tree, Go to Jail; Akeredolu Shuts Ondo Forest Reserves
The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has banned all logging activities in the state forest reserves.
According
to a statement by the state Head of Service, Mr Toyin Akinkuotu, the
banning which includes logging activities in free areas is with
immediate effect.
The governor also dissolved all Task Force teams on forestry and related matters in the state .

Arakunrin
Akeredolu equally directed law enforcement agencies and forestry
officials to ensure strict compliance with the directives.
This
development is coming on the heels of reported illegal exploration
activities going on in government forest reserves across the state. The
illegal activities have resulted in loss of huge revenues by the State
Government.
