The Tanker with plate number OYO GBY 465 XA which was coming from NIPCO depot in Apapa, Lagos State was said to be heading to Osogbo, the state capital to make delivery of the 33,000 litres of petrol in one of NIPCO's station, before the road mishap
In a chat with TIME NEWS,the manager of the Truck Adekunle Abolade says he lost about 6000 litres of petrol to the accident.
He also claimed that Oba Akanbi had at the scene of the accident promised to pay for the damages done, but has failed to fufill his promise.
"He has refused to pay for loss and damages caused by his convoy. The accident could have been tragic, it was God that saved us"
"He agreed to pay for damages on the spot, but changed the story the following day when we visited him in his palace with the DPO of Awo police station. The DPO was trying to mediate between us to reach a compromise, but nothing was achieved"
"I must say that I'm disappointed in Kabiesi's disposition on the matter. He knew quite well, that his convoy was at fault but decided to use his power on us. It is disturbing that a monarch who should be seen upholding justice has decided to do otherwise" he lamented.
"All we want from him is just to pay us the loss and damages done by his convoy, because that is where our hope lies. Everybody knows the economy situation of the country now. He should repair our truck and pay for the litres of petrol lost"
When TIME NEWS contacted the monarch via telephone for his reaction , someone who claimed to be his personal assistant confirmed the accident, but refused to speak further on it.
He also told us that, Oba Akanbi was busy and could not grant interview.
