Islamic Group Donates Relief Materials To IDPs, As NEMA Urges Nigerians To Emulate Gesture


Al-Ihsan Foundation, an Osogbo Based Islamic welfare foundation has donated some relief materials to the National Emergency Management Agency, for the welfare of the people displaced by the activities of Book Haram Insurgents in the north eastern part of Nigeria.

The materials which include several bags of clothes, shoes and other items were on Thursday presented to the agency by the board of trustees of the NGO, at the Islahudeen Central mosque, Alekuwodo, in Osogbo, the osun state capital.

While speaking on the motivation behind the gesture, the Ameer of the Organization, Sheik Muftar Olayiwola, said it was borne out of the need to assist the federal government and also identify with the plight of the displaced persons in the country.

The gesture, according to him is part of their duties as Muslims towards making life better for the less privileged in the society.

Sheik Olayiwola called on other NGOs in the country to assist the government in providing succor for the IDPs.

Receiving the items ,the head of operations NEMA in ekiti, Osun, and ondo Mr Akinode Saheed said if well meaning Nigerians can assist the federal government in providing aid to the people displaced by the activities of Boko Haram in Nigeria, it will go a long way in lessening their burden.

Mr Akinode noted that the havoc wreaked on the people living in the north eastern part of Nigeria by the dreaded Boko haram insurgents is enormous, but, assured that the federal government is doing everything possible to bring succor their ways.

He said government alone cannot cater for the number of displaced persons spread across the country, hence the need for other well to do Nigerians to lend hands of assistance to them.

While appreciating the people for the gesture, Akinode called on every Nigeria to emulate them, saying nothing is too small to bring smile to the faces of the displaced person.
