Islamic Organization Gives Succor To widows,Commissions Centre For women



Religious and non Governmental Organizations have been urged to focus more on poverty reduction by assisting the less privileged in the Society.

This came to the fore as an Islamic organisation in Iwo Osun state, Jam'atu Ta'awuni Muslimeen distributed food items and cash gift worth about a million naira to widows in the area.

About six hundred widows benefited in the gesture which the president of the organization, Sheik Daood Imran said, it part of the Muslims' faith to assist the needy.

Sheik Imran emphasized that government may not be able to fulfill all its responsibility to the people but it behoves on the well-to-do-to Muslims and organisations assist the indigents in the society.

He called on other non governmental organisations to intensify effort at empowering and educating the women and youths who are the most vulnerable in this time of economic recession.

Some of the beneficiaries of the food items commended the Organisation for the gesture saying this would go along way in easing their plights.

The programme also saw the commissioner for women and children Affairs in Osun, Alhaja Latifat Tayo Giwa,  commissioned the centre for women development built by the Islamic organization.

In her speech Alhaja Giwa established the uniqueness of Ta’awun organisation among others.
