NPWL Week 8: Osun Babes Maul Minna Amazons 4-1.

Osun Babes FC recorded a resounding 4-1 victory over hard-fighting Saadatu Amazons from Minna in the week 8 encounter of the Nigeria Women Premier League.

Another spineless performance from the "Sagi Aluwo" girls meant they still remain at the bottom of the NWPL and still continue to chase their first victory when they meet Pelican Stars in Minna next week.

Saadatu Amazons surprisingly, though started the brighter despite not having any clear cut chances.

The Omoluabi Queens were awarded a penalty early on in the 5th minute when a Saadatu Defender handled the ball inside the 18yard box. New signing Anjor Mary took the onus on her self and slotted coolly from the penalty spot to give her team the lead.

From that point onwards, there was no looking back for the Omoluabi Queens as they extended their lead on the 26th minutes through Anjor Mary again who dribbled past two and beat off the goalkeeper brilliantly. It was a brace for the young forward on her debut for the Osun based side.

As the game went on, it was Osun Babe's intensity, high line and the sheer ferocity of their collective pressing, together with their decisiveness that stood out. They were quicker, physically stronger and squeezed the life out of Saadatu Amazons.

Saadatu Amazons looked frail at the back throughout the game, and more horrific defending saw them concede a third as former youth international Kemi Abiodun found herself in all kinds of space to poke home with the head to make it 3-0 for the home team, just on the dot of 45th minute.

Before the end of the first half, Sadaatu had a chance to put one back, when Chinenye Okafor contributed a pass towards Alvin Dazz who dribbled past a defender and gave out a shot that was caught expertly by Esther Emaowodia.
The first half ended 3-0 in favour of the Omoluabi Queens.

The pressure continued to soak in for the visitors as the second half began. Marcus Grace kept on running through the defense line of the visitors, the diminutive forward eventually got a breakthrough in the 48th minute when she ran past two defenders to give a low cross to top scorer Precious Edewor who made no mistake to make it 4-0.

Hard fighting and talented Alvin Dazz did score a consolation goal for the "Sai Aluwo" in the 56th minute when Osun Babes defence couldn't hold on, as she took advantage of a Chinenye Okafor's cross to make it 4-1.

Osun Babes are presently 3rd on the log of the NWPL group A standings and will face Nasarawa Amazons next week wednesday in another massive home test.
