Breaking! Judge Grants Ex-VC Elujoba Bail, Says Workers' Conduct Shameful

justice David Oladimeji of the Osun state high court has granted bail to the former acting vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University ile-Ife, Professor Anthony Elujoba.
Professor Elujoba was granted bail on self recognition but ordered not to travel out of Nigeria as long as the trial last asking the EFCC to deposit his passport with the court registrar.
The bursar of the school, Mrs Josephine Akeredolu was also granted bail with the sum of fifty million naira with two sureties in the like sum.
The two sureties are to be members of the academic or nonacademic staff of the university community with highest grade of salaries.
Professor Elujoba and Mrs Akeredolu are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission on allegations of financial misappropriation and abuse of office.
Justice Oladimeji before giving his ruling, condemned the manner in which the staff and students of the institution conducted themselves at the last sitting, when the defendants were ordered to be remanded in Ilesha Prison.
The agitating students and staff broke down the gate of the court and forcefully entered the courtroom, singing war songs.
Their activities also left many commuters plying the roads leading to the court stranded for several hours.
He described the behaviour as shameful, unruly, uncivilized, and unexpected of members of academic environment.
The case which originally began in the state high court in Ede, was moved to Osogbo for reason unknown.
