Breaking: George Weah Declared President-Elect of Liberia
Former World Footballer of the Year George Weah has been elected the 25th President-elect of Liberia, West Africa.
The 51-year-old former Ballon d’Or winner, beats his 73-year-old rival Joseph Boakai in thirteen (13) out of the fifteen (15) counties.
Weah won the contentious election with the population of just a little above 3 million.
He has since took to Twitter to appreciate all his supporters, with a pledge to liberate the country.
The former AC Milan striker wrote on Twitter: ” It is with deep emotion that I want to thank you, the Liberian people, for honouring me with your vote today. It is a great hope”.
