Osun LG Poll: APC Coasts To Victory As Accord Party Cries Rigging, Intimidation

With early results trickling in from polling units where votes are counted across the 71 wards where elections took place,  the All Progressives  Congress seems poised to clear the whole election.

Leadership of Accord Party in the state has however condemned the conduct of OSIEC, accusing the body of perfecting rigging for the All Progressives Congress right from the outset.

Speaking with newsmen in Ile-Ife,chairman of Accord party in the state Segun  Fanibe rejected the mode of operation of OSIEC, delivering that the body before distributing election materials have had its prepared results.

"They (OSIEC) never allowed us to cross check the voting materials before they were distributed across wards for the election. I don't know how their presiding officers came about an already prepared result."

Fanibe also allege the ruling All Progressives Congress of intimidation, harassment and assault.

"Our party members and candidates were assaulted by party thugs loyal to the All Progressives Congress. At my polling unit and booth, I was personally attacked if not for the timely intervention of the Police Area Commander. "

But in a swift reaction, Osun state commissioner for sports and special needs Biyi Odunlade said Fanibe's allegations are "just figment of his imagination and banana of his mind. Accord party is just crying wolf because they knew they will lose the election, so they are free to make noise"

With voting finally coming to an end, Osun state will for the first time in eleven years have a duely constituted local government system, and so to experiment parliamentary system in local councils in Nigeria.
