APC-LG Congress:Ibeju-Lekki Members Accuse Chairman Of Fraud, Demand Open Primaries

As a result of an unsuccessful attempt to rig the Saturday's All Progressives Congress' (APC) Local  government Congress at Ibeju local government which comprises of 7 Wards , the party members are clamouring for an open primaries to decide on ward exco delegates .

The failure of the ward congress, was said to be as a result of an attempt by the LGA Chairman Alhaji Tajudeen Balogun, to rig the election to his favor.

According to sources, the suspect was caught in the act of rigging  by fabricating figures with the hoarded election materials found in their custody.

The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Mr. Bayo Balogun, was accused to be in connivance with Alhaji Balogun, as he allegedly handed the electoral materials to the LGA chairman in his bid to favor himself and others.

According to the source, Alhaji Balogun was apprehended by  officers from Akodo police station, but the case was transfered to the state criminal investigation department Panti Lagos for more investigation.

The jamboree sparked by the alleged dubious acts, lasted through the night till day break on Sunday after which bail was granted to the suspect.

Party members have however condemned the primaries describing it as just a hogwash.  The members  who had since petitioned the state party headquarters lamented what the result of the election would have been when no actual election took place.

The APC members speaking anonymously say the people's choice is very obvious on what happened at the Ward and local government congress held at Ibeju-Lekki.

"The dubious act which transpired during the Ward Congress also repeated itself on the 12th of May at the party Secretariat in Iberekodo where some hoodlums stormed the venue to hijack all election materials,as a result of this, the LGA congress could not hold at Ibeju Lekki, so where are they getting the result for an election that never took place?" the source queried.

What we ask for is very simple,we demand  an open primary to decide the party executives at Ibeju-Lekki, Ward A, Lagos. Only the open ballot system will be true and fair enough to us.
