Osun 2018: "I will work for the Victory of APC"- Lasun Yussuff.
Contrary to insinuations making the rounds that the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Lasun Sulaiman Yussuff may, or, would defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he re-affirmed his unwavering membership of the party.
Addressing the media after the meeting with members of his Governorship campaign team, precisely a month after the Osun State APC primary election in his Osogbo office on Saturday, August 18, 2018, Hon. Yussuff said, “we are not prepared to leave the party, we are not dumping the party for anyone, we are prepared to work for it’s success. Our position is to support the party and ensure that others that have not benefited benefit from the party.”
He however, bemoaned the situation where the mass of the grassroot supporters and members he referred to as locals that had toiled day and night for the success of the party has been alienated. He stated that he would want Nigerians to be aware that many locals that have been alienated from the party have nothing to show for their efforts. He therefore said that the party should make them benefit from their efforts.
Just as he decried what he termed as unabated continuous persecution of his caucus members within the ruling party, he also denied any reconciliatory move by the party or other stakeholders within the party with the exception of a few friends and colleagues on their individual levels. He denied ever working against the success of the party in the forthcoming governorship poll but averred that he may not be able to speak for all his followers.
About those that have gone to Courts to challenge pre-election issues, he lauded it as a way forward than destabilizing the party
On the possible victory of the party, he disclosed that he has not bothered himself to do any opinion poll since the primary election has been concluded but he noted that he cannot guarantee victory for any political party. This is because according to him, politicians only grandstand but in the actual sense they are not more than 5% of the electorates.
Speaking on the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole handling of the crisis at the national level, he said that any party in Government would shoulder many more responsibilities than others, he advise him to have a way as a past labour leader and Governor to negotiate the bends.
End.
