2019 Election : Osun INEC Fixes New Dates For Clearance on PVC Collection, Number of Registered of Voters.


The Independent  National Electoral Commission INEC Osun State Office has announced  Tuesday 6th and 12th of November, 2018 for the clean-up exercise of the National Register of Voters.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner Mr. Olusegun Agbaje made this announcement in Osogbo  during a press briefing held on Friday 2nd of November in the commission's office.

The REC said this action is in accordance with section 19 and 20 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

According to him,  the clean-up exercise  is part of the commission's determination to ensure elections are conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.

He affirmed that during the exercise which is expected to take place across the states in the country, the National register of voters will be displayed at polling unit and Registration area levels, adding that this will enable the commission to hear the claims, objections and complains from the public.

" As we speak,  arrangements have been concluded for the conduct of the exercise which will avail the general public the opportunity to scrutinize the register of voters for any objection or complaints using the necessary forms prescribed by the commisson"

Mr. Agbaje further that the Permanent Voters Cards that are yet to be collected, calculating to about 400,000 will be made available  at each registration area and polling unit for collection.

He stressed that the staff of the commission with the support of the National Youth Service Corp NYSC members within the localities will be used to carry out the exercise.

The REC enjoined the general public, especially those who are yet to collect their PVC to do so, as well as those who might have any complain to visit their Registration area and Polling unit to tender their grievances during the slated period.

He therefore assured all stakeholders in the electoral process and the general public that the commission will not relent in carrying out her mandate in accordance with the laws without fears or favour,  adding that, media and all concerned stakeholders will join hands with the commission to conduct a free, fair and credible election come 2019.
