NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Poor Technical Know-How, Bane to National Growth-Lasun Yussuf
The deputy
speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yussuf has called on all
Nigerians not to only embrace agriculture but also focus on building technical
capacity so as for all efforts put into agric process not to be in vain. Lasun
Yussuf said this at the handing over of cash to farmers who have just been
trained at forestry research institute of Nigeria saying agriculture is the
sure way out of recession.
While
presenting certificates and processing equipments for smoked fish, plantain and
mushrooms for the 350 participants, the deputy speaker said poor technological
development is part of the problems contributing to the economic woes of
Nigeria.
Also speaking,
the director of the Nigeria stored products research institute, Ilorin, kwara
state, Olufemi Peters said it is high time Nigerian leaders and policy makers
became serious with programmes that add values particularly in the productive
sector of the economy.
The
programme also highlighted that the only way out of recession for Nigeria is
the development of the agricultural sector with concerted efforts from
Nigerians to appreciate in the development of technical capacity in
critical sectors like agriculture.
