Makarfi:PDP Should Maintain Winning And Reconciliatory Tempo -Omisore,Adagunodo
Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party In Osun state have been reacting to the victory of the Ahmed Makarfi led caretaker committee at the Supreme court.
It would be recalled that the PDP factions in the state closed ranks during the Osun west senatorial bye-election which ultimately translated to the party's victory last Saturday.
In his message, former deputy governor and Senate committee chairman on appropriation Iyiola Omisore said the judgement has shown PDP as "A winning model for peace, reconciliation ".
Omisore went further "As we work together in the PDP to achieve this, we shall engage in deep introspection across board and build bridges within and between different groups. It time for peace and progress. It is time to reposition as the largest political party in Nigeria, a vibrant opposition party to reverse the sad turn in the economic and social realities of our people. Without doubt the judgement of the Supreme Court positions the PDP and its leadership away from the period of wilderness, an extreme form of occupation that threatened to divide us. We have learned and thankfully have not been shaken. Together we shall move forward. We shall engage citizens, we shall heal and shall deliver much better than we did before to the Nigerian population.
We will commence our journey to restoration with the forthcoming elections. We have learned in Osun that together, the PDP is indomitable. Peace, unity and reconciliation in Osun State brought together hitherto divergent party factions into a melodious fusion to face a common enemy... We must take advantage of the great value in the Supreme Court judgement today - the protection of democracy and the supremacy of the rule of law. We shall take over and win the forthcoming Governorship elections in Anambra in 2017, as well as Osun and Ekiti in 2018."
In similar manner, the chairman which commandeered the party to victory on July 8th, Soji Adagunodo says the supreme court judgement should unite party faithful the more.
In a press statement, Adagunodo said "the Supreme Court decision which affirmed Senator Ahmed Makarfi as Chairman of the PDP puts to an end all controversies and gives the party the much needed focus and strength to rescue Nigeria from the yoke of bad governance at the Federal level."
Hon Adagunodo said the judgement which came on the heels of the recent victory of the party in the Osun West Senatorial by-election which was a unifying factor in the state, is a pointer to the fact that the PDP will face all future elections at all levels ,as one big family under the logo of the Umbrella.
While urging all members of the party in the state to remain calm and focussed on the task ahead, Adagunodo urged leaders of the party at the National level to seize the momentum of the Osun victory and the Supreme Court judgement to heal all old wounds and chart a new course for the party in line with the vision of its founding fathers.
