Osun Babes Beat Confluence Queens 2-1

Confluence Queens left the Osogbo City Stadium
without a point despite attempting to fight back
from a two-goal deficit.

The "New Direction" ladies lost their last three
games and were hoping to pick at least a point
in Osogbo.

The "Omoluabi Queens" enjoyed 80% of
possession in the first half and got rewarded in
the 23rd minute when Abiodun Adedayo took
advantage of a rebound from Precious Edewor's
cross.

Fortunately, the goal didn't affect Confluence
Queens confidence as they immediately started
putting on pressure on the home team.

However, the defensive team of Sarah Yakubu,
Esther Elijah, Iloduba Sarah and Abiodun
Adedayo were solid for the whole half and didn't
concede throughout the first 45 minutes.

The second half started off rather calm with
Osun Babes putting on majority of the pressure
again.

Osun Babes got the first chance of the second
half in the 52nd minute, with Anjor Mary
whipping a shot inches over the bar, as the Osun
girls began to lay siege to the Confluence goal.
But still, the visitors continued to hold out.

The Omoluabi Queens finally got the chance to
double their lead, when Anjor Mary was pulled
down near the 18yard box and Edewor Precious
took the onus to play a well curved ball to make
it 2-0.

Edewor, with five goals and two assists so far
this season was typically in high-energy, while
Anjor Mary and Kesiena Ojywovu were seen
moving smoothly through the gears.

In the 63rd minute, Idoko Mercy looped a header
over the bar, before Aishat Bello let fly from
distance and then moments later curled one just
past the far post but there was no way through
for the visitors.

New entrant Poulinus Ifeoma had her efforts
blocked in the 67th minute as the away side
continue to probe, but the Liadi Bashiru's side
having proven themselves to be obdurate, proved
difficult to be break down.

The visitors finally pulled one back in the 71st
minute when Osun Babes defense lost
concentration, Paulinus Ifeoma scored from
close range to make it 2-1.

With this win, Osun Babes have gone six games
unbeaten. They have won five in their last six
and drawn just one in their last against Pelican.

While Confluence Queens have lost four
consecutive games.

Osun Babes are second on the log with 20 points
while Delta Queens have 21 point and are seated
on top of the Group B table.
The Omoluabi Queens will travel down to Furfure
to face Adamawa Queens next week wednesday.
