UNIOSUN Exonerates VC Over Allegations Of Fraud,Misappropriation

Respite is now on the side of the embattled vice chancellor of Osun state university Professor Labo Popoola.

The university has been embroiled in series of crisis since last year with the Non-Academoc Staff Union NASU and the Joint Action Council asking for the sack of the vice chancellor over allegations of fraud and financial misappropriation.

The Osun state university chapter had accused Proffesor Labo Popoola of  mismanaging over one hundred million naira among other allegations of highhandedness and non-remittance of pension fund deducted from their salaries.

The university council subsequently set up a committee to look into the allegations. The committee in its report however absolved Professor Popoola of any wrongdoing.

This was contained in a letter made available to journalists in Osogbo on thursday.

The letter signed by the acting registrar and secretary to council Adeosun Adewale read in part "following a thorough deliberation on the findings and the recommendations of the committee, council found that the allegations of financial misappropriation levelled against  you were not substantiated"

"Based on the foregoing, I write on behalf of council to inform you of the above, and to formally exonerate you from the allegations" the letter ended
