Fayose Orders Removal of all posters, billboards in Ekiti state

Drama ahead the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state have started unfolding as the governor of the state Ayodele Fayose through the state advertisement and signage agency ordered the removal of all posters and billboards erected across the state.

In a statement released on behalf of the agency by the media aide to the governor Lere Olayinka, the signage agency hinged its removal order on the non-payment of necessary dues by those erecting billboard and pasting posters aside indiscriminate pasting and erection.

"Ekiti State Government has frown at indiscriminate pasting of posters and erecting of billboards in the State, most importantly in Ado Ekiti, the State capital.

The government has therefore directed that no poster should be pasted and billboard erected anywhere in the State without approval of the State Signage Agency.

Upon payment of necessary fees, the Signage Agency will not only give approval, but also designate appropriate sites for pasting of posters and erecting of billboards.

To ensure sanity, the government has directed the Signage Agency to ensure immediate removal of ALL illegal posters and billboards in the State capital, not minding political parties, organizations or personalities involved.

Interested members of the public should contact the State Signage Agency for further information."

Though there is still no official reaction from the opposition party, but feelers have it that this is been targeted at the posters and billboards of governorship aspirants both in the PDP and APC ahead the governorship poll and it still remain unclear if the order will affect the posters and billboards of Fayose himself and his annointed deputy governor.
